When I first heard Dam-Funk I brushed him off as a novelty act that was over using synthesizers trying to “bring the 80s back”. I was a little reluctant given that Kirb & Chris did it a few years ago then faded away as most gimmicks do after time. I missed a show he had at the Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn in December, but all the feedback I heard said that it was an amazing show and I felt the need to really take a deep dive and listen to the album.

I bought Toeachhizown on Amazon (I hate Itunes DRM) and gave it a proper listen. 24 Songs later, I’m his biggest fan. Any man that is serious about using a keytar is good in my book. He sounds the love child of Prince, Zapp & Roger, and Cameo.

This is the first leak from After The Smoke’s “Under The Influence EP”, set to be released on March 30^th via iTunes.  Typical Weekend is an infectious track, which is sure to help this Tallahassee-duo receive some much deserved exposure.

In the summer of 2006, I was hanging out downtown after work and stumbled into a movie theatre to watch anything. By the look of the poster for 13 Tzameti, it seemed like the most interesting film showing, so I pay the $10, grab a snickers, and sit down.

**Flash Forward 2 hours**

The credits begin to roll and I look down to realize that my fists are tightly clenched and I’m sweating from nervousness. I was so emotionally caught up in this film I hadn’t realized that my finger nails were digging into the palms of my hands. I say this to say that it was the most intense and suspenseful film I’d ever seen.

The director Géla Babluani was asked to make an english remake of the film the next year and the remake has already casted Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Ben Gazzara and Alexander Skarsgard as the principles.  It will premiere during SXSW and I need one of you to see the original and then go and see the remake and report back.

Although I can’t name one OK GO song, I’m happy that they are serious about making awesome videos. This will be nominated for a music video award before its all said and done.

I’ve always been fascinated by Basquiat, not because of who he was per se, but because he influenced some kids that I looked up to when I was younger. Anytime I see anything related to Basquiat I’m instantly reminded of those guys I grew up around and wonder what happened to them. I’ll check this out as soon as it hits a screen near me.
